This is a bold dresser from South Wales, circa 1710. It has an open-backed rack with a neat cornice and shaped frieze below. The rack sits upon a raised section on the base, enclosed either side with deeply shaped shoes, and also incorporating a row of four spice drawers, each having a shaped divider between them.
The base of the dresser has a row of two drawers, each has two raised and fielded panels, giving the impression that there are four drawers in total, with a deeply shaped apron below.
The dresser is supported on three very elegantly turned front legs which end in bun feet, all supporting a potboard base.
