_______________

THE ARTIST H SMYTHE

Little is known about this artist although he submitted paintings of Nottingham and Usk to the Royal Academy in 1845 from an address in the former.  Three of the paintings here – of Kidwelly, Beaumaris and Trecastle – show an address in Llangollen.

He must have spent a while in Kidwelly since over the years we have seen a number of his views of the town, usually taken from unusual angles and often on circular panels.  One from Pinged Hill is in the Carmarthen County Museum and a number of others are in local housesLoading Zoom Loading Zoom
