John Scourfield's eldest son William married George Owen of Henllys, Lord of Cemais' daughter Jane shortly before his succession to the Mote estate in 1609, and another cupboard that had similarly remained with descendants into the 20th century was probably produced to commemorate this event.

This is also a large impressive piece and made of extremely dense and ample boards, it was in one tall section with a display area on its top surface.
The
two cupboards share many identical features of construction and
decoration including the interlacing on the frames, patterns on the
side panels and finely moulded interior framework.

The left door below has an identical 'Phyddlon' panel to the Mote Cupboard, whilst on the right there is a design showing three greyhounds to one half and the Owen boar to the other, the former representing the common ancestry of the families - according to Owen's armorial records - from Jordan of Eglwyswrw (Pembs).

The row of animals across the top are also virtually the same, making it likely that they represented the attributes of the couple rather than their precise ancestry.
