Welsh oak chest-on-stand, the upper section of two small and two large cock-beaded drawers separated by plum cross-banding, over a base with one real and two dummy drawers, raised on cabriole legs. The flowing inlaid decoration of holly and bog oak is in a pattern associated with the Vale of Glamorgan, circa 1730.

Chest-on-chest bearing many exceptional features including an elaborately fretted swan neck pediment and shaped and carved feet.  This style of inlaid decoration was a particular feature of the Towy Valley area, and the central drawer bears the initials of Jane Thomas of Dyfadfan Uchaf of Gwynfe.  She was born in 1796 but died before her marriage and, by family repute the first initial was changed to that of her younger sister Hannah, with whose descendants it remained until this year.

Antique chest on chest

Welsh oak chest on stand, the upper section with a cornice with blind fretted design above a carved frieze over two small and three large drawers flanked by reeded canted corners, the bottom section with three small drawers above a shaped apron, the whole raised on cabriole legs front and back with carved ball and claw feet.
